IHHS Student Manasi Singh

We are sharing a special series leading up to our Indian Hill High School Eighth-Grade Open House 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 (complete details below). As part of the series, we asked Indian Hill High School students what it means to be Brave.

She has organized and led multiple clubs at Indian Hill High School, is an AP Capstone scholar, a member of the DECA marketing program, and makes service to others a priority. We sat down with student-leader Manasi Singh to find out from her what it means to be Brave.

Indian Hill School District (IHSD): What does it mean to you to be Brave?

Manasi Singh (MS): Being a Brave means pushing yourself past all standards and striving to be the best you can possibly be. It means supporting each other and smiling in the hallway at someone you might not necessarily know that well. It means staying after school and working with a teacher to ensure that you’re taking full advantage of your academic potential. Most importantly, to me, it means being a passionate young individual who recognizes the value in giving everything your all.

(IHSD): What is the best part of being Brave?

(MS): My favorite part has got to be the interconnectivity that we have here as a community. I can walk through the Middle School, Elementary School and maybe even the Primary School, and be recognized by faculty that I have had the pleasure of learning under. The way students thrive off of each other is also something that you won’t find in any other schools. I know that if I enter a classroom at random in the High School and just sit through a class, I won’t feel uncomfortable at all, not because I personally know the people in the class, but because of the way people accept each other at this school.

(IHSD): What is your #IHPromise to future Braves?

(MS): As an Indian Hill student, your education is in your own hands. You only have as much potential as you think you have, which means that the opportunities are unlimited if you let yourself take advantage of all the utilities we have in this district. The avenues to success have all been created for us as students and the pathway has been carved out. It’s completely up to you to make use of this chance we have been given. School is a chance to make lifelong connections and learn everything you possibly can. It’s the chance to make all of mistakes you possibly can so that you learn from them and grow as a person. Something that I’ve learned after spending many years at this school is, failure is just an unplanned avenue for success, if you let it be. In terms of expectations as an Indian Hill student, you only really have one: choose to utilize every resource you have to better improve your education and happiness.
