IHHS Student Albert Kwon

We are sharing a special series leading up to our Indian Hill High School Eighth-Grade Open House 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 (complete details below). As part of the series, we asked Indian Hill High School students what it means to be Brave.

He is a captain of the Indian Hill High School World Champion Mock Trial Team, a student-musician, volunteer-mentor, and an amazing scholar. We sat down with student-leader Albert Kwon to find out from him what it means to be Brave.

Indian Hill School District (IHSD): What does it mean to you to be Brave?

Albert Kown (AK): I think one of the biggest things we have here are our pillars, and just the sense of community that we have at Indian Hill. Being Brave is more than just upholding those pillars – it’s making sure that all of us uphold those pillars because everyone can think about what we can do for ourselves; where our community comes in is – how can we really benefit others? I think it’s the idea of how can we help someone other than ourselves that really embodies what it means to go to Indian Hill.

(IHSD): What is the best part of being Brave?

(AK): I would definitely say by far it would be the opportunity. This is one of the schools where we are just blessed to be in such an amazing District. None of us can say we don’t have resources or opportunity, so it’s really up to the student to see how high they can reach and what they can do. Everything else is all laid out for them.

(IHSD): What is your #IHPromise to future Braves?

(AK): My promise would be to just go ahead and take advance of those opportunities. It’s not really about the grades; it’s not really about trying to show off to colleges; but, rather, defining who you are. Take advantage of those chances that you get, and use each one as a learning opportunity to see how you can better yourself and the community.
