U.S. News and World Report released its 2018 rankings of best high schools in the country, and Indian Hill High School received a gold medal ranking, placing third in the state, 175th in the country and 120th in STEM high schools.

Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college. This year, only 2 percent of high schools received a gold medal; 11 percent received a silver medal, 16 percent a bronze medal and 71 percent no medal.

The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 20,500 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
